The Encyclopedia of Graphics File Formats README for the textonly version of GFF ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The textonly version of GFF is identical to the graphics version except that there are no image maps or other graphical navigational elements. In many files, there are no graphics at all. Note, however, that the textonly version does include some graphics (for example, the figures in the chapters and format summaries). Using the textonly version of GFF requires making a few changes to your GFF configuration file. - Under Windows, this is "gff.ini" in the PROGRAM directory in the directory where you installed GFF. - Under UNIX, this is "gff.ini" wherever you installed it (probably /usr/local/lib). Note that under UNIX you can override the default initialization file by placing another "gff.ini" in your home directory. Unless you are the only user on your UNIX system, this is probably preferable to editing the global configuration file. - On the Mac, this is "GFF Config" in the directory where you installed GFF. Before you begin, make a backup copy of the GFF configuration file! You must make all of the following changes in order to completely switch over to the textonly version. 1. Modify the [ config ] section: - Change "graphics" in GFFDir to "textonly" - Change HomePage to "main.htm" 2. Modify the [ pages ] section: - Change /gff/graphics/... to /gff/textonly/... in each line. 3. Change the name of the [ substitute ] section to [ graphics substitute ] 4. Change the name of the [ textonly substitute ] section to [ substitute ]
