VuePrint

VuePrint v4.4 is a shareware program for MS Windows that reads and writes graphics files, and includes a slide show, a screen saver, and some image-manipulation facility.

VuePrint reads and writes GIF, BMP, DIB, PCX, TGA, JPEG, and TIFF image files. It has the ability to play sound files in MIDI, Wave, and MCI formats, and video in AVI, MPG, MMM, MOV (QuickTime), and FLI/FLC formats through links to the environment. VuePrint can display a slide show, can generate thumbnails of image files, and can be installed as a screensaver to display graphics files. There are shareware versions for both Windows 3.1 and Windows 95, as well as German, Japanese, Korean, and Russian shareware versions.

The shareware version is 16-bit, and there is a "pro" version available from the author which is 32-bit. It can directly display ZIP-compressed images, a plus for those short on file space.

This is a versatile shell with some built-in display ability. A good deal of thought went into the install process and user interface. It can be readily uninstalled if you don't like it.

The Windows 3.1 version of VuePrint is in the directory /software/pc/mswin31/vueprint on the CD-ROM. The Windows 95 version is in /software/pc/mswin95/vueprint. VuePrint is from Hamrick Software.
