Win4Dv

Win4Dv v1.0 is a freeware (for personal use) viewer for mesh data running under MS Windows.

Win4Dv displays mesh data as wireframe diagrams. Several rendering modes are available. Many forms of 3D data, such as data from finite element and boundary analysis, can be converted into mesh format. This package reads DAT files, which are mainly lists of points in a human-readable ASCII format. The DAT format is documented in the help file and is very simple in structure.

This is a well-written program which does what it says it does and nothing more. The display is fast, and in fact rendering speed is blinding. Its interface is simple and elegant. This would be helpful to someone modeling 3D primitives from calculated dimensions, and of course to anyone who has mesh data that they wish to tweak. Not a modeler, but a viewer module many modelers would be proud of.

Win4Dv is in the directory /software/pc/mswin31/win4dv on the CD-ROM. Win4Dv is from i2 Technologies.
